Frequently Asked Questions
Does it actually create an airtight seal, or will my food still go stale?
Yes — SealSmart creates a genuine heat seal that locks out air and moisture. Unlike clip-style bag closers, it melts the plastic together, giving you the same result as factory-sealed packaging. For best results, make sure the bag surface is dry and free of food residue before sealing.
The USB charging sounds convenient, but how long does the battery actually last?
A full charge takes approximately 1–2 hours and provides enough power for 100+ seals — more than enough for daily home use. A small LED indicator lets you know when it's time to recharge. We recommend charging it overnight every few weeks depending on your usage.
What types of bags can it seal? Will it work on thick freezer bags or only thin packets?
SealSmart works on most standard plastic bags including snack bags, cereal bags, bread bags, and thin freezer bags. It is not designed for heavy-duty vacuum bags or mylar pouches. For best results, use bags with a thickness of 0.1mm–0.2mm. If you're unsure, test on a small section of the bag first.
Is it safe to use around kids or on food packaging?
Yes — SealSmart is designed with safety in mind. The heating element is enclosed within the unit and only activates when the device is pressed firmly against a bag, minimising any risk of accidental burns. It operates at a low voltage via USB, making it safe for home use. While it is safe to use on food packaging, it is not recommended for use by young children without adult supervision, as the sealing tip does get warm during use.
